What is an allergy?

Allergy is a disease that we often encounter in recent times, it is found in 20-30% of newborn babies.

Allergy is an acute reaction of the immune system to even harmless substances. These foreign substances are called allergens. Allergy, depending on its severity, occurs in different parts of the body, and its effect can last from several hours to several days. Anaphylactic shock, a very serious pathological condition, can also occur in people suffering from allergies. The reason for this is the body's acute reaction to the allergen.

Anaphylactic shock can be caused by various allergens: medicines, insect bites and food products. Even skin contact with a plant called latex can cause anaphylactic shock. A food allergy is a reaction of the immune system against certain food products. This type of allergy occurs when the body perceives any food product as dangerous for it, and thus the body forces the immune system to produce antibodies for self-defense.

Allergies observed during childhood sometimes disappear when a person becomes an adult. However, it is very difficult to get rid of allergies if they arise in old age. Allergic rhinitis (professionally called rhinitis) affects 1 in 10 people and is usually hereditary.

Such allergies occur mostly in women than in men. Symptoms of allergic rhinitis: itching in the eyes, nose, throat and mouth, sneezing, stuffy nose, watery eyes, mucous discharge from the nose, conjunctivitis (pain and redness in the eyes). In some severe cases, allergic rhinitis causes asthma (in people suffering from asthma).

Causes of allergy

Infarction Some people's immune system reacts sharply to certain substances (allergens) and produces various chemicals. Histamine, which causes allergic symptoms, is one of them. The body's reaction (allergen, food intake) is caused by breathing and skin contact. Allergens can be animal hair, small hair, various foods, dust, medicines, cosmetic products, smoke of cigarette.

Preventive measures during allergy

People with allergies are advised to identify and avoid allergenic products. In this case, the house you live in should always be clean, free from dust, hair and ticks. It is imperative that you cover your nose with a clean filter or mask when sweeping the house, vacuuming, changing bed linen, and doing other dust-related tasks in general. People who are allergic to animals are not allowed to keep animals at home.

If you also have severe allergies, you should definitely notify your family members, coworkers, and doctor.
